... at least when it comes to airship operations. Cold temperatures increase the density difference between air and helium which results in a higher lift capacity. And at low altitudes the helium volume stays about the same as during the filling procedure, which makes it easier to maintain an optimal hull pressure. Like that a snow covered parking lot makes nice location for some quick outdoor flight testing.
In this flight we tested some simple waypoint navigation and position hold near a vital piece of infrastructure (gray lantern) that needed some urgent inspection (maybe).
Since this worked quite well, we are now ready for some more serious weather exposure in the next flight test.
